Each year thousands take to the streets of Shandon to walk with the dragon as it travels between worlds in a celebration of the living & the dead accompanied by an assortment of creatures from the underworld.
Starting at 7pm TODAY from Church Street, the Dragon of Shandon will meander through our city finishing on Grand Parade.

One’s of Cork’s most eagerly awaited festivals returns from 7-17 November.
The Cork Film Festival is Ireland’s largest and first film festival and one of Cork’s most significant and popular annual cultural events. Running from November 7 – 17, the festival will feature Award-winning films from the international film festival circuit, new discoveries and cinema classics are selected by our experienced curatorial team, to be premiered on the big screen in Cork.
With cine-concerts, talks, events and school screenings – there’s something on offer for everyone!

Cork Science Festival is a celebration of science events taking place this November. Experience the program of free public engagement events, open days, science tours, talks, exhibitions, shows, workshops and school events. Cork Science Festival is a main partner of Science Week Ireland, one of the largest STEM engagement events.

Ó Bhéal’s 7th Winter Warmer festival presents 23+ poets from seven countries in the Kino. Two workshops will run on the Friday afternoon, after which Corn Uí Riada winner and acclaimed sean-nós singer Máire Ní Chéileachair will open the festival, accompanied by Cork musicians Con O’Drisceoil (accordion) and Johnny McCarthy (fiddle, flute).

The countdown to Christmas is well and truly on with the launch of the Lord Mayor’s 59th Gala Christmas Concert
Cork City Hall will welcome some wonderful musicians to the stage
including Emma Nash, David Syme, Ryan Morgan and Nora O’Riordan, the
43rd winner of the 2019 over 60s competition
Cantaírí Mhuscraí from Ballincollig and the Studio Wolfe Singers from Douglas will be our stage choirs for the evening.
The wonderful Cork Concert Orchestra will be joining us for the evening of song!

Quiet Lights embarks on its second year upon the Lee this November 22-24
2019. Shining lights on the new wave of Irish folk and traditional
talent is our modus operandi, but there are lots of different styles of
music represented in this year’s programme. All of them musicians at
various stages of their careers that are quietly making waves, forging
new paths, recollecting old tales and making new stories.

Cork Pops Orchestra returns from November 5th & 6th with their concerts for Primary and Post Primary school audiences.
The Cork Pops Orchestra and their conductor Evelyn Grant will be celebrating 25 years in show business this year.

13 November
As darkness sweeps around the globe in November, 25,000 people in 50
cities worldwide will get up from their armchairs, slip on their red
flashing armbands and pull on their running shoes to complete a 5k or
10k. In Cork, over 2,000 people will take part in the event, starting on
Patrick Street at 9pm.
From Sydney to San Francisco, together they will light up the night as they hit the road to Run in the Dark.

22 -24 November
One of Cork’s most highly anticipated events, the Cork Baking and
Chocolate Weekend will return to Cork International Hotel from 22nd to
the 24th November 2019.
World-renowned chocolatiers and bakers from Ireland and abroad will flock to Cork to showcase their love of all things sweet.
Throughout the weekend, a large marquee will host chocolate, baking and
cookery demonstrations, while visitors can also indulge in our mini
tasting rooms, with 30 minute tasting sessions to gain a more in-depth
culinary education regarding cocoa content within chocolate.
